Not big on war films or historical epics, and have to admit I only gave this a go because John Woo directed it. It's brilliant though, looks sumptuous, the battle scenes are amazing, a really good epic movie to get lost in.
I'd be tempted to say its the best thing Woo's done but my soft spot for his gunfights won't allow it!
