Review of The Reaping (2007) by Jack N — 17 Jul 2009
So...yeah. What a boring film.
It wasn't bad per se, if you can stand the "Oh I was a missionary and now I'm an atheist because God is mean!" main character. Or the way the film seems to both criticize and champion this attitude (that's fair, at least). And the overall theme if "rational science person encounters supernatural events" wasn't too badly done, either.
But mostly it's just boring. Most characters are stereotypes with their actors trying to break this with varying degrees of success. The execution is kinda predictable and the overall events aren't really that exciting.
I'd probably dock another half a star or so if I could remember more about the film to say exactly why it was so unimpressive. Or heck, I might add one. But I can't, so I'm just going to give is a boring, blah 2 stars and be done with it.
