Review of The Reaping (2007) by Joseph F — 06 Aug 2010

I just watched this ( catching up on alot of movie watching now that I've finished my Masters degree: ).

So, this was good! I was surprised by ending and that doesn't happen often. I had Prestige figured out way sooner than this. I don't want to spoil it, so I won't, but watch it! I think if you enjoy Christian-themed movies then this will be right up your alley.

The one thing that held it back for me was the beginning. I felt that the character's connection wasn't there. Especially with the romantic lead and Hillary's character. Nothing there, and I think if he were better cast, say someone like Richard off of Lost, then we could have gotten more energy from that role, more sexual tension, and thus more momentum into the exciting ending.

Effects held it back a little, and I found it creepy in place, but they restrained from having too many "jump" scenes, which are cheap tricks in my opinion.

Swank really showed me her power on the screen, and she looked great.

Definitely a nice tomato here!
