Review of The Real Jurassic Park (1993) by Jebediah M — 10 Jun 2014
Impressive animatronics don't save this predictable and overrated film which is complete with stock characters, a weak plot, failed attempts at suspense and laughable dialogue. If this film were put in the hands of someone who could think outside the box then I think it could be very cool, but in the hands of the cookie-cutter, money-hungry Spielberg it is truly a lame piece of garbage that offers no surprises other than the fact that there are dinosaurs (which isn't really much of a surprise after the first one you see).
Every character has their story cut out for them as soon as the film begins, which includes but is not limited to: the "greedy corporate sellout", the "young girl with not-so-hidden talents", the "reluctant but good-hearted protagonist", the "wise-cracking mathematician who has no reason to exist" and well.
..pretty much everyone else. This movie is terrible. I would rather re-watch the 3rd one. At least that one utilized the presence of dinosaurs to some sort of cool effect. This movie couldn't even kill any of it's characters (besides the snooty lawyer who you can tell will die as soon as he's presented).
What a piece of shit.
