Review of The Reader (2008) by Todd W — 12 Jul 2010
A great performance by Kate Winslett as usual, but she can't quite carry the movie all by herself. The 2nd half of the story takes a jarring turn toward the dark & depressing after the 1st half of the story feels like little more than a "skinemax" movie. Like a lot of Oscar nominated movies, it's good to see once but a little over-rated and low on the re-watch factor.
Letter Grade: C+.
