I'll get the one positive out of the way for this movie which is that it does cause one to discuss a lot of topics. Whether it's how long does it take to really love someone? How well do we really know people? And at what point does the punishment fit the crime? These were all explored very well in The Reader, however the pacing and acting just weren't that great for me.

The relationship between Michael and Hannah seemed to move so fast that I didn't feel the bond that I think they felt for each other. For a film that's over two hours, I was surprised how little time is spent investing in these characters early on.
