Review of The Reader (2008) by Rebecca S — 05 Sep 2010
I love Kate Winslet. I really do. She could probably be my favorite actress. I've seen almost all her work and, well, she doesn't disappoint. That was until this movie came along. Don't get me wrong, I think she did a decent job. But, I just don't think she was right for this part. And frankly, I don't think no one was. Maybe the kid was had it actually been in German. That's another thing. I think this movie would have been a whole lot better had it been in German. Kate Winslet speaking German...now that would totally rock my world.
This movie had a lot of potential, I just wish the casting would have been better.
If Winslet deserved an Oscar that year it should've been for Revolutionary Road. Now there's a depressing and complex character done right.
Still, I love you to death, Kate!!!
