Review of The Reader (2008) by Andy D — 06 Oct 2010
Brilliant film, brilliant performance from Kate Winslet, who I honestly think I could watch do the washing up for an entire afternoon and find it riveting.
A film essentially about German guilt in post-WW2 Germany, it is also largely about one man's journey to come to terms with both history, and his own personal story, hence the constant references to Homer's Odyssey.
A superb morality tale from Director Stephen Daldry, one that makes you ask yourself the ever-poignant question...
"What would you have done?".
