Review of The Reader (2008) by Peter P — 10 Aug 2011
At times it feels like a blatant grab for an Oscar, but overall, The Reader is a very well put together film featuring a great cast. When I first saw this film, I was studying Schlink's novel for my English class.
As is the way with school-prescribed texts, I didn't enjoy myself. With the threat of a major essay removed, I enjoyed myself much much more. Definitely not a popcorn flick, but definitely a moving tale, and Kate Winslet deserved her Oscar.
