Review of The Reader (2008) by Ian P — 30 Sep 2013
A compelling drama and romance movie set in the World War II and Nazi era in Germany. It is based on the novel of the same title by Bernhard Schlink. The film has good twist of unlocking a mystery but its drama theme and its characters gave it a solid ground and emotional hold to it.
Kate Winslet is so commendable that it earned her an Oscar and BAFTA Best Actress award for the role of enigmatic yet firm-standing belief role of Hanna Schmitz.. Aside from a intriguing and emotional-driven story, it is also told in commendable cinematography and effective use of dark subject about the World War and Jewish concentration camp trials.
The Reader was also beautiful enough also to be nominated as Best Picture film in BAFTA and Academy awards as well.
