Review of The Rainmaker (1997) by Diane J — 04 Feb 2009
The adaptation of my most favourite book. The first version of the film was said to last 6hrs and no wonder - the novel was nearly 600 pages long. Lots of themes were superficial and others were just left out - I was given the feeling the film was shot on fast-forward.
.. anyhow, the criticisms aside, it surely is one of the best Grisham-based films. The characters are vibrant and credible, the feelings as true as possible... it's amazing what Coppola achieved with the time limitations.
A good drama!
