This was before Matt Damon was a good actor. The soundtrack was bad enough to be distracting. I love the book and think they did a good job of adapting it. I honestly never realized that back in '97 Claire Danes was a better actor than Matt Damon.
He has improved drastically. These days he is one of my favorites.
