Review of The Railway Man (2013) by Vincent L — 15 Dec 2013
Teplitzky's first attempt to tell an epic story. The result is good in general but the relationship between Firth and Kidman's characters didn't have enough time to engage with the audience at the beginning.
Jeremy Irvine's performance was excellent and very convincing as a young Colin Firth. However, the torture shown on screen does not seem to correspond to the level of damage done on Firth's mind.
(However, this maybe different for those who have been through the war, one audience at the Q&A session said her mother had to leave and couldn't finish the movie).
