Review of The Raid 2 (2014) by Jared R — 16 May 2014
Easily the most brutal things I have ever seen. The action is so intense and so well done that it exhausts and excites at the same time. I have heard some critics talk down on the plot, to be honest, I liked it.
Is it the most deep or the most meaningfull? No, but it serves as the perfect backdrop for the carnage that commences on screen, trust me, there is a lot. While the violence can be overwhelming, there are plenty of funny scenes that lighten the tone of the film as well.
Such as hammer girl almost forgetting her weapons before a fight then quickly running back to get them. Also, the car chase scene is absolutely mind boggling, I wish we could have rewound the footage so I could see it again.
While not a movie for everyone (you need a strong stomach for this one) The Raid 2 serves as one of the best examples of action cinema we have ever recieved, If you can stomach it, I highly recommend this one.
All hail Gareth Evans.
