Review of The Raid 2 (2014) by Lou A — 15 Aug 2014
One of the most noteworthy martial-arts and straight up action films, not only of the year, but in recent memory. Other adrenaline-loving directors should take note from Gareth Evans for choreographed fighting and staged action.
What he and his phenomenal crew do in this film is nothing short of a triumph. Each blow to a human body-part has impact on the viewer, and there's a sequence that may just be the greatest car-chase scene ever filmed.
And this is all within a story that is well-written and dramatically satisfying, with shockingly convincing performances.
