Review of The Raid 2 (2014) by Tuukka P — 09 Jan 2015
Gareth Evans returns to the world of The Raid and this time he uppes the ante to almost a Godfather like scope. The Hong Kong films of this kind are clearly the inspiration for the tale of criminal families and undercover cop struggling to stay on the right path.
The action is scattered between dialogue scenes and it rises to the level of the first one (the final 30 minutes are right out of the first ones playbook). Fights are brutal and shots/editing inventive enough to keep you interested.
