Review of The Raid 2 (2014) by Shane F — 17 Mar 2016
If hammer-wielding assassins, baseball bat beat ups and brutality amidst an atmosphere of a cornered saviour desperately trying to rescue his life, aren't enough - I am not sure what is. Make sure you see The Raid prior to this phenomenal sequel, which contains greater depth whilst still being a roller coaster riot of rough play. Michael Bay could learn so much from Gareth Edwards who finds a way to surpass his previous fight epic I this visceral, violent and very smashing tale of a tortured hero fighting his way through filth to his family.
The action is wince inducing, due to the reality and the brutality. You really do want the hero to make it, which is a huge difference with many "action" films. True grit, sacrifice and incredible will shine. A must watch.
