Review of The Rage: Carrie 2 (1999) by Luke A — 27 Feb 2010
I think the main problem with this movie is that it tried budgeting off Halloween H20's idea and its success. I do think of this movie as a good, bad movie, as it is entertaining but badly written and bad acting.
When that guy ran over the dog I couldn't believe what I just saw. The poor dog didn't even whimper, and I found it sad that my favourite kind of dog was literally rollicking under a car. Obviously it was fake, but still that image has been implanted in my head since I first saw this.
All of a sudden, Rachel's guardians think of her as their daughter. I mean, when she tries sneaking back into the house the male one slapped her. Her cheek wasn't even red. The female guardian didn't even try to step in when this happened, or when he was going off at her earlier in the movie. What's up with that?
The movie has a few funny jokes, the "Game" the boys played was completely ridiculous. I couldn't believe those underage girls were stupid enough to fall for that. The dummy that hits the cars windscreen is obviously fake. Why would a team shave their heads completely bald? Why would they try so hard to embarrass Rachel. THe movie is left with alot of unturned stones.
The "Counsellor" can't act for peanuts. After the events of the first movie, I don't think she'd be psychotically healthy to become a counsellor. What's up with that? Her acting is so bland... it makes me depressed. Her death I didn't enjoy. I don't think she got justice when she died. She should've survived at the end. She didn't even scream, what's up with that?
The movie is plagued with alot of filters and warp effects. They aren't very interesting. Rachel's biological mother is nuts, there isn't even a reason for how she went crazy. Of all people, I didn't think it was her biological father that should of been the person that gave her the power. Also, at the time, Carries father would've been in his teens when she was born, or really old when Rachel was born. How would that work? There is no reason for her biological father for taking off anyway.
It is a mediocre, badly written film, but mildly entertaining.
And I don't reccommend it at all, but if you want to watch it, I won't stop you...
20%.
