Review of The Quiet Man (1952) by Juan Manuel A — 04 Mar 2011
Imprescindible........Wonderful movie of the brilliant Ford. I portray author of novels of manners where an immense John Wayne who interprets an Irish ex-boxer in The United States returns to his village of origin, fleeing of his past to recover his farm and that finishes marrying the temperamental sister (wonderful Maureen O'Hara) of his major enemy.
Weigh some incidents in the filming that some scenes limited intimist one manages to transmit a portrait where the important thing is the simple thing. It reveals tenderness, quiet, serenity and well to make all this masterfully mixed by the director who was making the difficult thing easy (Oscar this year for Ford) .
La returned to see it does little when I was remembered by my friend Rafa. Indispensable.
