Review of The Quiet Man (1952) by Barbara G — 06 Jul 2008
A sentimental film that is much deeper than expected. John Wayne portrays an Irish-American boxer who returns to his roots in Ireland in an effort to escape his past. His efforts to woo a feisty Irish lass played by Maureen O'Hara are hindered by his inability to deal with Irish tradition and a feud with the girl's brother.
A tender hearted film, to be sure, but I would define this as a "manly chick flick." You would have to see it to understand.
