Review of The Quiet American (2002) by Hayley C — 11 Aug 2008
Michael Caine is brilliant in this film set in the early 50s in Vietnam. It is a crying shame that they cast Brendan 'George of the Jungle' Fraser as the quiet American responsible for America's covert operations during the French occupation of Indo China.
It has a romantic and slow pace to it which was nice to see. It is also not your typical Vietnam movie... more of a thinking mans film. All in all, its the Fraser role that takes the shine of it. Go and do a Mummy!
