Review of The Quiet American (2002) by Fraser M — 30 Jun 2010
The movie is set in Indo China in the early 50s when the Communist were fighting the french. Micheal Caine is a reporter and has a misstress. Micheal Caine meets a Doctor (brendom Fraier) and they befriend each other. The doctor falls in love with the mistress and it continues from there.
The only reason im not making this rotten is because. Brendom Fraiers character's (not his acting that was tipical flat and poor). The story was very good and the whole thing about the US funding the warlord or whatever you want to call him and how you eventully find out that Brendon Fraiser is a CIA agent. Its set in a very interesting time during the begininng of the vietnam war when it was the french fighting the communist. But there was another story intertwined about Brendom Fraisers character falling in love with Michel Caine misstress. The Mistress does a very poor acting job wich adds to the dullness of the romantic story of the movie. If they Focused more on the agent and Michel Caine's work investigaing Brendom Fraiser it would have been a better movie.
If you like picture pieces then you will like it but the romance side or the story is poor.
