Review of The Quiet (2005) by Ro T — 28 Jan 2010
Despite the horrifying content of this movie, and the absolutely disgusting ideas that are allowed to be portrayed, one cannot dispute the amazing performances by the cast. Camille Belle is as pure and angelic as ever, while Elisha Cuthbert and Martin Donovan are frighteningly convincing in their roles.
One thing the film does a great job of, is allowing direct visual feedback on just how repulsive some of the subject matter is. Seeing these characters play out their dark secrets is truly an ugly sight, while Camille Belle seems to radiate a purity that the other characters cannot even comprehend.
Of course the film draws comparisons to American Beauty, but this is a much darker contrast.
