Review of The Queen (2006) by Gina P — 20 May 2009
As an American, I doubt I will ever fully understand the need/point of a royal family. I was too young when this happened to have really known about the whole, seemingly-sordid, affair, so I have no idea whether this film is accurate.
It begs the question, though, of what the writer/director of this movie intended to say. Tony Blair is portrayed as endearing, Charles as sniveling, and the queen as cold, though not necessarily by any fault of her own.
And then there's the question of Diana. A woman who's come to be remembered as somewhat of a saint almost is portrayed as someone undeserving of that legacy. Who knows... I just kept wondering what the point was.
At least it wasn't a terribly long movie!
