Review of The Queen (2006) by Sanna L — 24 Aug 2009
Very, very interesting.
There's not too much happening in this film, as it's mostly people watching news about the death of Princess Diana, and people talking on the telephone about how to handle the funeral and such. Then again there's so much happening as the foundations of British Monarchy are crumbling because it's out of date and lost touch with the people. This Helen Mirren conveys to us by her performance here.
The guy playing Tony Blair (Michael Sheen) is scarily accurate potraying a fresh prime minister in a tricky situation. And that's almost as interesting as the Queen and her dilemma, Tony Blair and the beginning ofhis era as head of Britain. The idealism, populism, media and such.
