Review of The Queen (2006) by Claire T — 18 Nov 2012
How Helen Mirren won the Oscar is apparent, but how Michael Sheen didn't get an attention for his portrayal of the freshly elected Tony Blair is amazing. Written with great wit and directed with minimalistic touch, the struggle of an age old monarchy coming to grips with the new, celebrity driven world is both sad and, oddly, reassuring.
People forget that Queen Elizabeth's mishandling of the weeks after Diana's death almost brought about the end of the monarchy itself.
