Review of The Queen (2006) by Jacky C — 30 Dec 2012
Absolutely beautiful and moving. Helen Mirren is scarily convincing as the beloved monarch. Neither the Royal Family or the British Parliament are treated in a negative light, but truly stellar performances from Mirren and Michael Sheen provide an insight into the inner dealings of both groups after the passing of Princess Diana.
It is a film that might convince you that a continued reign of the monarchy might not be as detrimental as many people theorise. I love the Queen, but Helen Mirren made me appreciate her as a true figure of respect and power around the world.
