Review of The Queen (2006) by Edgar C — 16 Sep 2009
A beautifully acted drama following the fortunes of the British Royal family after the death of Diana. Balanced and nuanced, the pleasant surprise with this movie was the amount of humour (which was also handled really well).
Most of the acting is superb, but Helen Mirren is the stand-out performance. The only thing that niggled, and this is a purely personal idiosyncrasy, is that the actor playing the Queen's private secretary reminded me of Christopher Hitchens, which was a bit of a mind-bending experience!
