Review of The Queen (2006) by Carlos R — 31 Aug 2010
Helen Mirren's performance as HM Elizabeth II, despite the hype, is truly stellar. She brings very evident humanity and surprising wit to a role which a less talented actress would have turned into a caricature.
James Cromwell's Prince Philip is wonderfully cranky, and Michael Sheen's Tony Blair is as arrestingly real as Mirren's monach. A brilliant film by Stephen Frears.
