Review of The Queen (2006) by Ld P — 08 Aug 2009
The Queen (2006). Certainly One of the best movies of 2006. Helen Mirren won a BAFTA and Oscar for her role. This film explores the times surround the death of Princess Diana and the timing occurs just as Tony Blair is elected to be British Prime Minister. A lot has been written about this movie. Helen Mirren became the Queen for me. She is that good. In real life she had refused a Commanded of the British Empire and after the movie Accepted a Dame Commander of the British Order from the Queen.
This was a very successful movie and for good reason: good plot great acting from Mirren Sheen and others; great cinematography and a great tribute to Princess Diana. This film is the fourth time that Mirren has portrayed a British Queen. I love this movie four stars maybe five.
