Review of The Queen (2006) by Daniel S — 23 Apr 2011
'The Queen' is one of my favourite films. This piece of work gives us an idea of how the Royal Family worked and how they dealt with the death of Princess Diana. 'The Queen' is a film that leaves you impressed due to the following.
It is very nicely shot, and moves along at a relaxing pace, though not slowly, and with some stunning panoramic views of Scotland's rich green countryside.
It is marvellously acted out and Helen Mirren embodies her character with depth and elegance. She resembles the true Queen Elizabeth very much.
The script is sublime and with a very broad vocabulary, something, I think, English films tend to look out for.
The music is very soft and passionate, this and the constant flashbacks to Diana´s death made my eyes well up.
This is a film that I will not easily forget. It is elegant and seamlessly put together with very precise interpretations, mesmerising scenery and costume-design.
