Review of The Quatermass Xperiment (1955) by Kenneth B — 16 Oct 2012
This is one of the strongest Hammer films I've seen. I think it was Mark Gattis' documentary A History of Horror that first put me onto this film but it has taken until now for me to get around to it.
I have been working through my Hammer boxset which contains 21 films, including the 3rd Quatermass film (QM and the Pit) but The Quatermass Xperiment isn't part of the set. So I've set QM and the Pit to one side until I've seen the first two films.
It's started off rather well. I recently watched The Day the Earth Stood still and this bares similarities, however this has a more overt horror leaning. Great stuff.
