Review of The Pyramid (2014) by Lovro H — 29 Mar 2015
My expectations were very low. And most of them were approved, but there were some nice suprises in this movie! Firstly, the movie is very dark. Most of the time you'll be straining your eyes just to make out what's on the screen.
Secondly, the main story is not really fascinating, but I quite liked the Anubis/Osiris story which gets more attention in the ending. Thirdly, the characters are uninteresting and for all of them you won't care if they die or live, but this being a found footage horror movie, they all die.
The movie is very cliched, from worn out jumpscares, to the bad "plot twist" ending. I do have to admit that near the end there is one very cool jumpscare which totally suprised me and was quite refreshing to the movie.
Last, but not least, the atmosphere. The pyramid design was fantastic! It really had that Egyptian feeling to it, and I was really fascinated with how they pulled it off. All in all, a below average found footage horror with a few good scares and atmosphere, but mostly dissapointing and not worth the watch.
