Review of The Pyramid (2014) by Al H — 01 Oct 2015
Very enjoyable and tense story of archaeologists lost in a new pyramid that has been found in Egypt.
They enter and quickly get lost and injured and realize there are creatures and worse in the tombs.
The Pyramid was fun, but not without some serious flaws. Characters make stupid decisions, the CGI cats and CGI Anubis are woeful at best.
However, the sets were great. There was a real sense of being lost with contaminated air, and being chased.
The movie is a bit of a copy of Alien in the respect of being chased and killed of by a creature, but the reveal of the creature and its motives are really neat.
I feel that The Pyramid would have done better without the carrion feral cats, and kept the creature more in the shadows. Maybe if they played on the research of the journal and wall inscriptions more, it would have been an improvement.
