Woody Allen's love letter to cinema is one of his career high points. The Purple Rose of Cairo is an utterly magical film, profoundly affecting and recognizable in all lovers of film. Mia Farrow's performance is excellent, and Jeff Daniels delivers in a very difficult dual-role, as an actor and his character.
The supporting cast is excellent, as can be expected in a Woody Allen creation, especially Danny Aiello and Dianne Wiest, whose role is all too brief. Outstanding.
