"The Purple Rose of Cairo" is a very unique fantasy film from the infamous Woody Allen and is also funny. Set in the Great Depression, Mia Farrow is trapped in a dead end job and abusive marriage.
She goes to the cinema to dream and forget about the hardships of her life. Eventually, the main character jumps off the screen and professes his love for her (!). Then the actor who plays this character turns up.
Jeff Daniels had a lot of fun with this one. Clever circumstances and another great film from Allen.
