Review of The Purple Rose of Cairo (1985) by Mike H — 23 Feb 2012
Although Woody Allen can hardly escape the self-aware movie, he does it sublimely when the focus is more inventive than as a parody (and it helps this time that he didn't cast himself as the lead -- or at all).
Maybe it's a film-fan-only kind of movie, but then again any great work of art is only great when the person consuming it can properly comprehend it.
