Review of The Purge: Election Year (2016) by Kyle L — 26 Jul 2016

Raw, gritty, violent, brutal and nasty The Purge Election Year is a surprising conclusion to the popular Purge films and it is one of 2016's biggest surprises since The Conjuring 2, Lights Out, Captain America Civil War and the new Ghostbusters reboot.

In The Purge Election Year Leo Barnes is now working as a secret service agent for Charlie Roan who is the target of the New Founding Fathers Of America right when someone betrays them on the night of the annual Purge and the two of them must survive the night with the help of a group of strangers who saved their lives along with Anti Rebel Purge leader Dante Bishop and they must survive the night in order for Charlie Roan to win the election and end the Purge once and for all.

When I saw this movie I was satisfied and really surprised because The Purge Election Year seriously surpassed both films in terms of style and execution and it is a very good conclusion to The Purge film series.

I was surprised with how The Purge Election Year turns out because in my opinion it is the best of the three Purge films. One of the things I like about the final Purge film is that this movie combines the best elements of the previous films.

The first film was a solid but flawed Home Invasion Horror film about how and where the Purge began but is still entertaining due to its nail biting tension and suspense, The Purge Anarchy surpassed the first film by changing the movie from a Horror film to a dark, action packed survival film.

The Purge Election Year combines both and this is a dark, violent, suspenceful action thriller that delivers the best elements from the previous films and it is done in a well effective manner. One of the things I like about the Purge Election Year is that this movie is well paced from start to finish, I love how it starts out calm and slow first then in the middle until the finale it goes suspenceful and action packed and everything in this movie is hardcore from start to finish.

Everything about this movie is true because the execution of this film is done so well and one of the things I like about this film is that the movie is that the story is told in a good way and the pacing is solid.

The other things I love about this film is that the characters are likable and believable like in the previous film. Its good to see Leo Barnes return for this movie while also meeting new and old characters.

The bad guys including the Purge tourists are crazy and wild along with the main villain who is insane from start to finish and I also love the dark desolated streets of Washington DC. The other things I love about this film is that it is packed with scenes that are suspenceful and action packed(the sequence in the store, the intense helicopter chase and the action packed finale) and there are also some brutal and nasty moments in the film(girl gets her head blown off with a shotgun, lots of brutal stabbings etc.

....) plus the film's look is stunning and fabulous from start to finish. Now the acting is good all of the casts including returning Purge actor Frank Grillo did an amazing job with their performances in this film and everyone did a very good job in this film just like the previous Purge cast.

Director and Writer James Demonaco did an outstanding job with his work on all three Purge films. Out of all the three this is his best effort to date and he created a fascinating, dark, grim action Horror Thriller that is surprising from start to finish and its quite sad that the Purge films have come to an end but I look forward to what he will do next in the future.

Overall The Purge Election Year is an entertaining and satisfying conclusion to the Purge films and it ends the series on a high note. This movie gets a 10.6/10.
