Review of The Purge: Election Year (2016) by Katze300 — 13 Sep 2016
This concept was better when barely touched as a context for the horror/thriller/whatever kind of movie....
They dropped the ball and chicken out when they had to actually write about politics "for real" (I mean, in the world they created)...
Because they didn't wanted to say anything for real, no message, no allegory, not even a tiny subtext... they made the "villains" as ridiculous as you can possible think... The concept was: People is crazy and killing that day, but the oligarchy has an agenda (an obvious one)...
Well, in this movie we see now that the oligarchy is just "crazy, build on fanatics, extreme religious people, a sect"... Therefore, there is no middle ground... OF COURSE the people in power is wrong... "They are crazy!".
Such a coward way to NOT take seriously the politics...
