Okay....... objectively, this wasn't a very good movie. The Purge was filled with lots of cheesy moments and dialogue, heavy-handed social commentary, and overacting. But it was SO much fun! If you can turn your brain off and see this with the right people or audience then I do recommend spending the money to see this over anything else coming out this weekend.
If violence is your concern then you'll be fine; an episode of GoT or Walking Dead are way worst. Because of this, I would best describe The Purge as a cheesy 90s action thriller with horror-esque tones rather than a straight up horror movie.
If the movie were better executed it would've been very disturbing, but instead it was a fun, silly time that was worth my time and money. However, I probably won't see it again unless it pops up on Netflix.
