Review of The Purge: Election Year (2016) by Slobber P — 15 Jul 2016
Okay so you could knock off 2 stars automatically for the ridiculous premise that we would all turn into rampaging merdurous lunatics if given the chance for one night. it's the foundation from which this entire franchise has been built on. But that would be like shooting fish in a bucket. or more accurately shooting a fish that is right in front of your gun.
It's a vapid fleshless monstrosity bereft of any intelligence but that's not where I find fault. It's the slapdash storyline that's so predictable you would think an average 4th grade kid could have come up with something less obvious. That's what bothers me about this film. The people who wrote it were just so blah about the story. The Purge Election Year is an obvious money grab cashing in on it Superior prequels which actually weren't that good in the first place.
But with all that being said if you've got a little over an hour and a half to burn you could do a lot worse.
