Review of The Purge: Election Year (2016) by Isadore H — 19 Jan 2017
Meandering sequel with a restless aesthetic (quite a combination!), that squanders the potentially interesting plot in favour of MTV style editing and lots of guns. Some admittedly arresting imagery (always undercut by a cheap music cue, slow mo gimmick or lens flare), and a goodish central performance aren't enough.
In the end, this third instalment hasn't moved on from "Anarchy", and it's seriously lacking in direction and Directing.
