Review of The Purge: Anarchy (2014) by Logan W — 09 Dec 2014
One day a year, all crime is legal, which essentially means murder is legal because that's the premise of the movie. Like I wish someone would go out and commit larceny or something or maybe even rob a bank so to afford a security system next-year round.
*cough cough*. I do not understand how making crime legal would rule it out for the other 364 days. Like whoo got that out of my system I'm taking a break. There's a lot of social commentary that there completely overlooking and dismissing.
There's a much larger world-view here they need to explore. I gave the first one a free pass but this one just stooped to the same level. It's better than the first in that it's not just your standard home invasion movie.
They take it out to the streets or whatever. There's still some political pedigree in that they're lowering unemployment rates by means of just murdering all the poor homeless people. They never dissect the specifics of that like they should.
The ending does unfortunately make yet another lead into yet another movie and still does not capture the full picture of what this premise is setting up just to lasso us in and wrangle in more money.
Good business tactic I suppose.
