Review of The Purge: Anarchy (2014) by Ramzo1247 — 23 Jul 2016
I love the movie, as I loved first one, but this one is even better cause there is great factor of unpredictability !
Seriously, right till the end you dont know who will survive and who not ! What makes truly great movie is not just to build up some character you love and care about and then at least half of them die. So many directors go after this formula, this so many times lived cliche - first story build up and then some monster or serial killer or supernatural entity slowly kill one after another, but this is so boring cliche and you dont really care about those characters, their story is plastic and they are plastic, so they die, big deal. My skin got so thick after watching so many horror movies over years that I dont care any more ! But in Purge Anarchy we have character that are not plastic,, they are real, they have soul and they care for others not just for themselves ! So real quality of movie is not to kill everyone up there, but how powerful is factor of unpredictable, if this is done good, doesnt matter if someone dies or not, the catch is in this; you just dont know ! And in Purge Anarchy factor of unpredictable is so much high, right until last minute of movie, death is there lurking just around the corner, right until the very last minute of purge ! Who cares about movie, if you know who will get killed after watching movie for 20 min.! But if you really dont know what will happen, then its really worth watching. What is more interesting, seeing some idiots in friday the 13th and you know exactly who will die and they are not important ! But if someone is intelligent and sensitive as all main characters in Purge 2 surely are, then you care for them, and if you really dont know if they will make it or not, until the end then thats it, thats all that is needed for great movie.
