Review of The Purge: Anarchy (2014) by Sage H — 25 Oct 2014
I watched this movie on behalf of hearing horrible things about the first, and that this one would be much better. Frankly, it didn't make much more of a difference. You basically only care about one character this entire movie and that is Frank Grillo on behalf of him being a good actor.
The rest of the four followers were terrible and you could honestly care less about them. So many cliches in this movie I lost track. I already knew the concept of the Purge was terrible but they honestly did nothing with it once more.
The first half of this movie is boring and you could care less about anything that is going on. There are also a bunch of convoluted side plots that made no sense and which you still didn't care about.
The last 30 minutes of the movie were the only entertaining parts especially around the whole Hunger Games knockoff element they added. But even then the movie was still boring. The film is predictable, cliche'd and overall careless and sloppy but at least it was better than the first, which isn't saying much.
This movie was hardly entertaining enough to re-watch again.
