Review of The Purge: Anarchy (2014) by Andy W — 26 Nov 2014
What could have been an exciting chase movie, or a variation of escape from New York turns out to be a repetitive tale that never expands beyond its premise. I think the makers believe the film is a satire or commentary on modern gun-obsessed America, but it never capitalises on these ideas, other than 'rich people are bad'.
Dull characters add to the don't-care-fest, but lead actor grillo has some presence. Like a lot of the gunfire in this movie - it's aimless.
