Review of The Purge: Anarchy (2014) by Bill M — 05 Jan 2015
A gigantic improvement over it's extraordinarily mediocre predecessor, where-as the first film took the whole great "crime is legal for 12 hours" concept and, in a show of complete lack of imagination relegated the whole thing to a single house in a tepid knock off of "The Strangers" this movie takes the idea to it's full potential, setting the action outside during the blitzkrieg of the purge like some badass combination of both Escape From New York and The Warriors.
As an added plus it has likable characters you root for and good performances, especially from new action hardman Frank Grillo, who is awesomely cool in this and deserves more leading action roles like this.
An exciting, relentlessly tense movie.
