Review of The Purge: Anarchy (2014) by Team Y — 05 Nov 2015
Like its predecessor, The Purge: Anarchy had an amazing concept and this time around, it capitalized on it a little more. The first film only showed one family and their struggle through the night. This sequel was smart and showed what its like in the city, with different people and a variety of enemies.
I liked how they expanded on the story but still, it left a lot to be desired and I hope that they continue making these films because there is so much that can be explored. There was some decent action scenes and some freaky looking bad guys in masks, but there were not that many tense moments which was a let down.
The ending was a nice, feel good moment which was a bit surprising for this type of film considering the rest of it was dark and gritty. If you liked the first film, you will for sure enjoy this one. This Purge idea is genius and I wouldn't mind this becoming a 10 film franchise if they keep improving on it.
