Review of The Purge: Anarchy (2014) by Tyler S — 21 Nov 2015
Sure, the premise is implausible but so is most the dialogue! Who yells at their family before knowingly sacrificing themselves to benefit them? Yeah, you don't know this character long but you know their behavior is out of character nonetheless.
The heavy handed message gets old 5 minutes in- killing is a base criminal need that benefits the rich. Deep stuff. In the end, we are all as complicit in joy killing as the murderous mobs, without the faintest lesson learned by the characters or the viewers.
