Review of The Purge (2013) by Marshall C — 06 Jun 2014
The Purge offers a vision of a dystopian future wherein all crime is legal for a 12 hour period once each year. This is somehow supposed to "purge" the hatred, anger, and aggressive tendencies out of society.
Instead, the film fails to deliver a relevant social message, or establish a sense of significance. While the premise is totally unbelievable, it would have been far more entertaining as a piece of late 80's action shlock starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.
